Perth Knows How to Light It Up – A Dazzling Drone and Fireworks Show in 2023!
Hey guys, have you ever seen 500 drones flying together in the sky? Well, I have! As the lead Trainer of Skills Generation’s Aviation (Remote Pilot) courses and Chief Remote Pilot, I had the honour of representing our team at the Australia Day Perth City of Light Show in 2023. And let me tell you, it was a blast!!!
The Swan River became the runway for the third City of Light Show, a spectacular festival of lights, music, and pyrotechnics. The show’s highlight was the perfect sync between aerial drones and fireworks, dancing in the night sky above the celebrating crowds.
I know what you are thinking… How do you manage to fly 500 drones, worth over a million dollars at once, without missing a beat or losing a single drone? The key is the masterful work of Drone Sky Shows, the Perth-based team of skilled and experienced show designers, mission controllers, remote pilots, and spotters. Plus, let’s not forget the ground crew, their work is often overlooked, but their contributions are essential to guarantee the shows’ success.
…. Making it even more impressive, this show was faced with the threat of some strong and potentially damaging WA winds. Thankfully, the wind gods were on our side, and after a brief delay, the show went off without a hitch.
