The incredible work Teens Take Control (TTC) do in our community to support young people at risk and their families was recognised at the Queensland Training Awards 2023 North Coast Region final on Friday 28 July.
Teens Take Control took out the prestigious Community Training Initiative of the Year Award for their Career Pathways Program.
The award celebrates outstanding assistance to Queenslanders to gain the skills, experience and VET qualifications required to enter and stay in the workplace by a community-based not-for-profit organisation.
Big congratulations also go to Teens Take Control student Oliver Langford who was one of the three inspirational finalists in the Equity Student of the Year category.
Teens Take Control has been operating on the Sunshine Coast since 2012 providing early intervention activities for youth at high risk. They have made a positive difference in the lives of more than 400 vulnerable and at-risk youth since 2012, engaging youth in education and training, developing life and work skills leading to employment, improved self-confidence and personal empowerment.
Working with an active volunteer board, TTC has grown a strong network of organisations and local businesses that help to deliver meaningful and relevant services for young people in need in our community. Operating solely on donations and grants to finance its operations until 2021, the DYJESBT Skilling Queenslanders for Work fund supported the TTC Career Pathways program initiative under its 2021/22 grant round.
Skills Generation is proud of its long association with Teens Take Control, providing training and assessment services, support and active voluntary membership of the TTC board.
Teens Take Control will now head to the state final of the Queensland Training Awards on September 9 in Brisbane. We are excited to see them gain the public recognition they deserve and wish them the very best of luck for continued success.
